Integrative factory, technology, and product planning-systemizing the information transfer on the operational level

Abstract: These days, competitive advantages for manufacturing companies cannot be achieved through a detached configuration of specific processes but only through an integrative configuration of the factory as a complete system. The technologies deployed and the products manufactured have a significant influence on the configuration of a factory. In order to allow better coordination between technology, product, and factory planning, a method for integrative factory coordination has been developed at the Hanover Center… Show more

“…Technology Roadmapping is a widely used method for strategic planning. Visualizing future technological development paths for one or more fields of technology, current and future product development could be scheduled [15][16][17]. Furthermore, the Szenario Technique enables the description of future situations in order to support technology planning and assessment [18][19][20].…”

“…Companies face stochastic disturbances and cyclic demands and consequently they struggle to achieve their full manufacturing capacity [1]. Additionally, they have to deal with shorter product and technology lifecycles, increasing number of variants, customized products, short delivery times and competitive pricing [2][3][4]. Thus, efficient production planning and control (PPC) has become a crucial competitive advantage for many companies [1].…”
