Intellectual property protection and the international marketing of agricultural biotechnology: firm and host country impacts.

Abstract: This paper looks at the welfare impacts of weak intellectual property rights (IPRs), using a critical case study approach. It uses the empirical setting of Pioneer-Argentina S.A., a seller of bioengineered agricultural seeds, to test the existing theory of weak IPR impacts in the context of a net technology-exporting North and a net technology-importing South.
