Abstract:The existence of interface states in deformed heterojunctions is discussed on the basis of onedimensional models and in terms of the scattering matrix approach. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of interface states are derived and numerical results are obtained in a form which makes possible a comparison with the earlier results for ideal heterojunctions without any deformations.
