Interoperability between library software: a solution for Iranian libraries

Abstract: PurposeThe main purpose of this paper is to propose a solution for data interoperability between library programs in Iran.Design/methodology/approachThe research proceeded through expressing the essence of interoperability in library programs in order to exchange metadata, In this regard, the current situation is analyzed using a researcher‐made checklist, and then the problems and shortcomings are highlighted in the field of the interoperability which in turn enables us to find some ways to overcome them.Find… Show more

“…Qualified DC is used for metadata repository, and PDF is used for full‐text data in the HKUST (Lam and Chan, 2007). Finally, Alipour‐Hafezi (2008) studied interoperability between Iranian web‐based library software. He proposed a model based on the harvesting model with OAI according to their current situation.…”

“…Studies on library integration in electronic environments are divided into two independent domains of syntactic and semantic studies (Alipour-Hafezi, 2011a). In the syntactic domain, numerous studies have been conducted on technical infrastructures and integration components in Iran as well as all over the world (Alipour-Hafezi, 2012, 2013, 2014; Alipour-Hafezi et al , 2008, 2010; Asma Khatun and Zabed, 2018; Chawathe et al , 1996; Ding and Sølvberg, 2004; Janavi and Babalhavaeji, 2015; Nowruzi and Jafarifar, 2014; Sheikhshoaei et al , 2018; Shen, 2006; Warren and Alsmeyer, 2005). All these studies aimed to identify components and offer mechanisms for creating integrated systems based on the status quo of the studied population.…”
