Interoperability Improvement for Wireless Electric Vehicle Charging System Using Adaptive Phase-Control Transmitter

Abstract: Poor interoperability between the rectangular coil and DD coil leads to significant decline in transmission power and efficiency. This paper proposes an adaptive phase-control transmitter (APCT) which is interoperable with different receiving coils for wireless electric vehicle charging (WEVC). First, an optimized bipolar (BP) coil is designed and APCT is capable of generating different flux distributions for different receiving coils. Second, inverter output currents' detection is used to identify the type of… Show more

“…Moreover, safe operation of the inverter in case of misalignment, and improvement of light load efficiency can be achieved [104]. The LCC-based topologies such as LCC-S [105-108], the LCCC-S [109], the LCC-SP [110], the LCC-P [111,112], and the LCC-LCC [113][114][115][116][117] are widely used in the IPT application due to its suitable performance. Although the LCC-P topology has a constant output current behavior, Zero Phase Angle (ZPA) switching is not achievable [112].…”

“…The first step is to estimate the cross-coupling between adjacent main WPT coils through measurements or simulations. Next, by changing the number of turns n and surface area A = l × h of the auxiliary coils, the sum of M ATx and M AA can be adjusted to compensate the existing cross-coupling according to (5). Limited by the increase in coil series resistance and ferrite core saturation, the number of turns and surface area of the auxiliary coils are adjusted between n = 1 ∼ 2 and A = 5.0 × 0.5 ∼ 12.5 × 0.5 (cm 2 ).…”

“…One of the inconveniencies is the big number of structures industrialized not including any compatibility in-betweens. Consequently, we need to accomplish an interoperability analysis [52,[64][65][66][67][68].…”
