Length-length and length-weight relationships for four endemic Cyprinid species in Küçük Menderes River Basin, Turkey

Abstract: Summary Length–length and length–weight relationships were studied for four endemic Cyprinid species from the Küçük Menderes River Basin located in the Western Anatolian region of Turkey. Fish were sampled from Tahtalı and Beydağı reservoirs, Bulgurca, Şaşal and Azmak streams during 2013–2014, using multimesh gillnets in the reservoirs and by electrofishing in the streams. First records of length–weight relationships for Barbus pergamonensis Karaman, 1971, Squalius kosswigi (Karaman, 1972) and Petroleuciscus s… Show more

“…As samples of each species collected over several seasons, the parameters a and b should be treated as mean annual values. A few study dealing with LWRs were conducted by Abujam and Biswas (2015), Dutta and Banerjee (2016), Yerli, Korkmaz, and Mangıt (2015), Chaklader, Siddik, Hanif, Nahar, Sultan Mahmud, et al (2016) on several Mastacembilidae and Cyprinidae species but present study provided more inclusive information for LWRs of three species of this two families. The result of the present study provides basic biological information on the LWRs that can be useful for fishery biologists, managers and conservationists for the efficient management and conservation of these species in the Arial Khan River, Bangladesh.…”

“…According to a study conducted with the same specimens allometric coefficient b of the C. holmwoodii was 3.04, the b value showed a significant deviation from value 3 (p < 0.05) indicating a positive allometry (Yerli et al 2016). İlhan et al (2010) According to our observations, main problem for C. holmwoodii population in well protected Tahtalı Reservoir is predation risk by Perca fluviatilis Linnaeus, 1758.…”
