“…В сетчатке по ходу сосудов видны беловатые полосы, представляющие собой пе-риваскулярную лейкемическую инфильтрацию. Могут наблюдаться преретинальные кровоизли-яния, интраретинальные кровоизлияния окру-глые и в форме пламени [14,18,19]. Нередко в цен-тре ретинального кровоизлияния можно видеть белый участок, вызванный аккумуляцией лейко-цитов.…”

“…3,4 Although only few cases described optic nerve involvement in a relapse of acute lymphoblastic leukemia, none have described concomitant normal MRI of the orbits and cerebrospinal fluid analysis. 1,10 Our case shows that isolated ocular involvement in the form of retinal vasculitis progressing to infiltrative optic neuropathy may precede by weeks or months the confirmation of ALL relapse with CNS infiltration.…”

“…Severe visual loss, however, can occur mainly due to severe optic nerve infiltration, ischemic optic neuropathy, and increased intracranial pressure. 1,2 Ocular manifestations can occur during either acute phase of the disease or relapse phase. 3 We herein describe a patient who presented with retinal vasculitis as the initial manifestation of acute lymphoblastic leukemia relapse.…”

“…It has been suggested that the eye represents a “sanctuary” site in acute leukemia, harboring leukemic blast cells in the iris, choroid, or optic nerve that are suppressed but not eradicated by chemotherapy [12,13,14]. It has been postulated that harbored leukemic cells multiplying within the retina may impair normal retinal fluid resorption leading eventually to widespread serous retinal detachment [15].…”
