“…Such treatment limits the ability to create films on textile substrates with low thermal resistance, such as cotton, viscose, wool, polypropylene, polyamide, polyester fibers, etc. (Liu et al 2007). The microwave treatment is one of the methods in which TiO 2 in anatase form can be enhanced at lower temperature (below 200°C).…”

“…The application of microwave treatment may be useful for the modification of low-thermal-resistance textile materials. Some approaches using microwave treatment to obtain crystalline TiO 2 have been reported (Liu et al 2007;Wilson et al 2002;Vigil et al 2001). Liuxue et al (2007) obtained TiO 2 anatase on cotton fibers prepared via a microwaveassisted liquid-phase process with hexafluorotitanate as precursor.…”

“…Furthermore, adding TiO 2 to AC could induce some beneficial effect because of the highly adsorptive characteristic of AC with respect to organic molecules and also resolve the problem of achieving optimum adsorption strength of the adsorbed molecules on the adsorbent to improve TiO 2 photocatalytic activity [20]. In fact, some authors have also reported a synergistic effect for AC-supported TiO 2 systems of some organic pollutants in the photocatalytic process [21][22][23][24].…”

“…To tackle this problem, loading TiO 2 nanoparticles on some supporting materials has been proposed 40 . Among the various supporting materials, activated carbon is an attractive candidate, due to its porous structure, significant adsorption capability, hydrophobic and hydrophilic properties, eco-friendly nature, structural stability, mechanical resistance, high surface area, and cost-effectiveness 41 . This was the first time that Mn, Mo, La/TiO 2 nanoparticles supported on activated carbon were used for degradation of Reactive Red 198 (RR 198) under visible light irradiation, and also the first time that the decolorization and degradation performance was evaluated for real textile wastewater; moreover, the intermediate compounds that had formed during the photocatalytic process were identified.…”
