Magnetic and spectral studies on nickel(II) and copper(II) dithiocarbazates derived from isoniazid

Abstract: Some isonicotinoyldithiocarbazate complexes of nickel(II) and copper(II), of general formulae M(IN-Dtcz) 2 , [M(IN-DtczH) 2 ]Cl 2 , and [M(IN-DtczH-Sal) 2 ]Cl 2 (M ¼ Ni(II), Cu(II); INDtcz ¼ isonicotinoyldithiocarbazate; IN-DtczH ¼ isonicotinoyldithiocarbazic acid; IN-DtczH-Sal ¼ salicylaldehyde Schiff base of isonicotinoyldithiocarbazic acid), have been synthesized. These complexes have been investigated by elemental analyses, mass, room temperature infrared and electronic spectra, and variable temperature ma… Show more

“…[Co(PMBS)Cl 2 ] exhibited well resolved peak at 16638 cm -1 (601 nm) and assigned to 4 A 2 → 4 T 1 (F) and at 14925 cm -1 (670 nm) is assigned to 4 A 2 → 4 T 1 (P) 14 .These values supports the tetrahedral geometry for Co(II) complex. In [Cu(PMBS)Cl 2 ]the peak is at 16077 cm -1 (622 nm) Fig.3 and is assigned to the transition 2 B 2 → 2 A 1 .…”

“…Zr(IV), La(III), and Ce(IV) chelates were recorded in DMSO solvent and shown in Table 2 and Figures 7-10. In the spectrum of the Schiff base it exhibits two bands at 269 nm (37175 cm −1 ) and 329 nm (30395 cm −1 ) assigned to → * and → * transitions [20]. In the metal chelates, the octahedral chelates that contain a metal ion of d 0 electronic configuration are diamagnetic.…”

“…It was found that the interaction of Ni(II) is normally more intense than other divalent metal ion with Schiff base ligand [28] . Nature of the ligand and the chelate effect were the factors involved in the environmental chemistry and technological interest [29] .…”
