This article examines how Islam and Indonesia's constitution interact. It shows Islam's complicated relationship with politics. It intends to analyze and investigate how religious beliefs and values influence political discourse and decision-making in various circumstances. It is hoped to shed new light on this critical and often controversial topic and help us comprehend the forces that influence our world by exploring Islam in modern political debates and conversations. Therefore, this article discusses the challenges between religious freedom and democracy in Indonesia. It also presents a detailed and analytical examination of the complicated and multi-faceted question of the future of Islam and constitutionalism in Indonesia, a country with a rich history and diverse culture. The finding of this study shows that political Islam and constitutional ideas affect Indonesia's political and social situation. Then this article seeks to illuminate Indonesia's future difficulties, possibilities, and outcomes through critical study.

This article examines the genealogy of wasaṭiyya Islam in Indonesia. Historical processes of Islamization in the pre-Indonesia context have influenced how the Muslim majority of Indonesia demonstrates its moderate expression from historical periods to contemporary situations. The establishment of the Indonesian state has the heredity derivation from the past Islamization. The role of Sufism in the processes of Islamization is addressed here. Ash’arism or Aswaja paved the theological way for wasaṭiyya by choosing a position of moderation between rationalist and conservative extremist schools of thought. On a deeper level, this article concludes that the Sufi foundations of the early Islamization period are essential for establishing wasaṭiyya in Indonesia. When Pancasila, as the nation-state philosophy, incorporates cultural elements acknowledged by Muslim Ulama, it is evident that any attempt to undermine or pervert wasaṭiyya Islam in Indonesia will finally fail. This research applied qualitative methodology with an exploratory research design. The data were collected using literature studies from books, journals, and related articles.

The global dissemination of religious radicalism has evolved into a worldwide issue, prompting intellectuals to engage in discussions and express their concerns. Data for this research were meticulously gathered from reliable sources utilizing a qualitative analytical approach. The focus of the analysis is on countering the escalating trend of radicalism through the lens of religious moderation. The study's findings highlight that a moderate Muslim is characterized by adherence to an acceptable interpretation of Islam. This interpretation incorporates principles of non-violence and moderation, aligned with a belief in democratic and pluralistic approaches, coupled with a spirit of tolerance. This research contributes to the scholarly discourse on the role of literary-based instruction in promoting religious moderation, offering valuable insights for policymakers, educators, and scholars engaged in the global dialogue on countering radicalism and fostering peaceful coexistence.
