Mathematical Modeling of the Evaporation of a Water Drop from a Heated Surface

This paper presents the results of mathematical modeling of the evaporation of a single water drop from the surface of a copper substrate using a new model, which does not require special experiments to close the system of equations and the corresponding boundary conditions with empirical constants. On the basis of the results of mathematical modeling, it was found that convective currents that occur in a small water drop (≤1 mm in diameter) do not significantly affect the characteristics or conditions of heat and mass transfer processes occurring in a liquid drop heated on a copper substrate. The results of numerical simulation showed that during the initial period of droplet heating, the latter undergoes a rapid transformation of the flow field. Five seconds after the beginning of the thermal action, a quasi-stationary regime of flows in the drop sets in. The model is tested on known experimental data. The theoretical analysis of temperatures at the characteristic points of a water drop and the surface on which the drop is located is carried out in ranges of thermal loads quite typical for practice, conditions for transferring heat and water vapor to the environment. According to the results of mathematical modeling, the possibility of using the developed model in the analysis of the state of cooling of surfaces heated to high temperatures, in cases typically used, is substantiated.

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan produk berupa modul elektronika dasar 1 berbasis pendekatan konstruktivisme pada materi semikonduktor dan mengetahui persepsi mahasiswa teradap modul tersebut. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian dan pengembangan (research and development) dengan desain penelitian ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Develope, Evaluate). Subjek penelitian adalah mahasiswa pendidikan fisika Universitas Jambi angkatan 2015. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan meliputi lembar wawancara terbuka, dokumentasi, lembar evaluasi ahli dan angket persepsi. Adapun teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu : 1) data wawancara dan dokumentasi menggunakan coding, 2) lembar evaluasi dengan menghitung persentase dan 3) data angket persepsi dianalisis dengan cara a) mengubah penilaian kualitatif menjadi kuantitatif, b) menghitung nilai rerata skor tiap indikator, dan c) menginterpretasikan secara kualitatif nilai rata-rata setiap aspek. Adapun produk yang dihasilkan berupa sebuah modul cetak dengan ukuran 16 x 23 cm, cover yang full colour dan didominasi dengan warna kuning. Modul memuat 6 kegiatan pembelajaran yang dibagi dalam empat bab yaitu: 1) bahan semikonduktor, 2) dioda semikonduktor, 3) aplikasi dioda dan 4) transisitor bipolar. Selanjutnya, modul juga menyajikan contoh soal yang menjelaskan langkah-langkah penyelesaianya sehingga mudah dipahami. Modul dibuat berbasis pendekatan konstruktivisme sehingga mahasiswa dapat mengkonstruksi pengetahuan dengan baik. Keunggulan modul terletak pada warna gambar dan lay-out yang menarik dan contoh soal yang dilengkapi dengan langkah-langkah yang mudah dipahami, di mana kedua hal tersebut menutupi kesenjangan yang ada pada buku sumber utama perkuliahan. Kelemahan yang ada pada modul adalah penerapan konstruktivisme belum menyeluruh pada setiap materi. Hasil penelitian persepsi memberikan persentase: 86% pada indikator tampilan modul, 85% untuk penyajian materi dan pada indikator kebermanfaatan modul sebesar 84%, di mana semua hasil termasuk dalam kategori sangat baik. Due to PISA inconsistencies and three years of learning loss, Indonesia's new curriculum paradigm focuses on core skills, particularly reading literacy. In 2021, the minimum competency assessment (MCA) took the place of the national assessment, and since then it has had teachers and students worried about academic success. This research aims to develop valid, practical, and effective PISA-like reading questions to prepare students for the MCA. The development study was used as a grand framework of design research, consisting of a preliminary evaluation stage and a formative evaluation stage. This research involved 45 15-year-old middle school students of varied reading literacy levels. The analysis in this research was conducted qualitatively based on data from interviews, document reviews, observations, and tests to see how students worked on PISA-like reading literacy questions. This research produced valid and practical PISA-like reading literacy questions according to the PISA 2022 framework. In terms of content, the PISA-like reading literacy questions focus on topics of news items. In terms of context, students explore new situations, especially in relation to health. Student competences are measured at the application and reasoning levels. This study suggests that PISA-like reading literacy questions can be a source of inspiration for teachers in designing questions, and they can be used to improve students' literacy skills.
