Material Application of a Transformer Box: A Study on the Electromagnetic Shielding Characteristics of Al–Ta Coating Film with Plasma-Spray Process

Abstract: In this study we present the results of two experiments. In the first one, a Ta–Al–SS (stainless steel (SS)) multilayer coating structure was prepared using plasma spraying equipment to investigate the coating structure and interface properties. In the second one, Ta–Al on multilayer glass was prepared using the sputtering process to measure the thickness effect of thin film on electromagnetic wave shielding (EMI) characteristics and on the design of high-power switchboard covers. According to the experimental… Show more

“…Due to high EM shielding characteristics of aluminum (Al) and tantalum (Ta) materials, Hung (2019) [ 123 ] fabricated Ta–Al coating (using sputtering technique) onto glass substrate to review the shielding characteristics (at frequency range: from 50 to 3000 MHz) but investigated the coating structure and interface properties of plasma‐sprayed Ta–Al coating (Al (100 μm), Ta (200, 400, and 600 μm)) onto a 1 mm‐thick 304 stainless steel substrate. It was observed that after the annealing heat treatment process, the Ta–Al coatings’ (onto stainless steel substrate) structural characteristics were excellent and suitable for shielding effects at different temperatures and humidity.…”

“…It was observed that after the annealing heat treatment process, the Ta–Al coatings’ (onto stainless steel substrate) structural characteristics were excellent and suitable for shielding effects at different temperatures and humidity. Hung (2019) [ 123 ] concluded that increasing the Ta thickness (as well as with the increase in temperature) can improve the shielding characteristics at low‐ and middle‐frequency conditions, while annealing also had a significant positive effect at the high‐frequency condition.…”

“…Some ravines formed on wood surface, indicating that the cross-sectional area of longitudinal coating on wood surface was larger. A uniform composite coatings promoted the formation of a good conductive films-based wood, which improved the ability of high-frequency electromagnetic wave shielding [49,50]. layer spacing (m), N0 is coefficient related to the air wave impedance and impedance of the metal layer.…”

“…Furthermore, aluminum-type material has strong bearing capacity and is light. It enables zero discharge of construction waste to be achieved during the construction process, reducing both the pressure of waste on the environment and the consumption of materials [4][5][6][7].…”
