The existence of vernacular architecture has given characteristics to the built environment and area. Vernacular architecture has became into a distinct personality that differentiates one location from another. Bangli architecture is one of the various kinds of architecture that evolved in Bali. Bangli architectural style has evolved from the 15th century to the 18th century AD. The characteristics of Bangli's distinctive architectural design can be seen in the main entrance building called kori agung. Today the architectural style in Bangli began to be replaced by the entry of other architectural styles in the surrounding area. For this reason, documentation efforts are needed to explore the identity and characteristics of Bangli architectural design. This article describes the identification of Bangli's architectural style characteristics through the kori agung as an object of the investigation. Data collection was carried out through field measurements, interviews and historical literacy. Architectural inspection techniques and graphical analysis are used in the analytical method, with architectural drawings and forms serving as the primary instruments. As a result, drawings, sketches and visual analyses are used to describe the architectural qualities of kori agung, which are typical of Bangli.

Fractals have been theoretically used to explain visual beauty from the urban scale to the context of architectural facades. How we perceive the visual beauty of architecture is likely dependent on subjectivity. However, the fractal is applicable for defining visual beauty and as a quantifiable method that provides objectivity for analysis. Previous research has used fractals, particularly in facades, to determine the beauty in complex geometry and quantify the complexity. However, the application of fractals in traditional architecture remains to be explored. Therefore, this article will discuss in detail how fractal is a suitable method to study the visual beauty of traditional architectural facades using fractal geometry and fractal dimension index. The case used to illustrate the implementation is Kori Agung of Balinese traditional architecture, known for its grandeur and luxurious facade images. It embodies the visual beauty of its facade due to its textured, layered, and complex visual appearance.

Architecture plays an essential role in various aspects of life and becomes evidence in tracing the nation's history. Efforts to encourage the preservation of historical buildings, including preserving the architectural style of Balinese temples, have been carried out by many people. The traditions and local wisdom of traditional Balinese architecture inherited from the people in Bali can be used as cultural capital and symbolic capital for the development and preservation of traditional Balinese architecture. Restoration activities at the Temple of Guwang Village, Gianyar Bali, Indonesia aim to restore the building as closely as possible to its original form by prioritizing aspects of preservation so that the carving patterns, ornaments, and characteristics of traditional Balinese architecture in the temple still survive as evidence of civilization and historical developments. The exploratory qualitative method [24] was used in this study by triangulation of data collection, namely from documents, observations and in-depth interviews. This research method aims to analyze the dominance of cultural and symbolic capital in the restoration process carried out by the people of Guwang Village. The results of this study will undoubtedly enrich the vocabulary of researchers and readers in understanding the process of restoring the architectural heritage of temples in Bali, and in addition, to offer knowledge in the scientific area of architectural culture and to improve and add understanding, both for authors and readers.
