“…In the current study, Proteobacteria (>85% of the analysed sequences) and Firmicutes (5%–12%) were the most abundant phyla in the autochthonous intestinal microbiota of gilthead seabream. These results were in agreement to those reported by different authors in the same species (Cordero et al, ; Estruch et al, ; Piazzon et al, ), as well as in other temperate marine fish species (Cardá‐Dieguez, Mira & Fouz, ; Tapia‐Paniagua et al, ) and salmonids (Dehler, Secombes, & Martin, ; Merrifield, Burnard, Bradley, Davies, & Baker, ). In our study, this phylum never represented more than 1.5% of the sequences analysed, whereas other 22 phyla were found, but these were <1% of the total sequences.…”
