MOF–Graphite Oxide Composites: Combining the Uniqueness of Graphene Layers and Metal–Organic Frameworks

Abstract: Graphite oxide (GO) / metal-organic framework (MOF-5) nanocomposites are synthesized with various ratios of the two components. In developing the concept of these new adsorbents, it was expected that distorted graphene sheets would contribute to the enhancement in the dispersive interactions, whereas MOF-5 component would contribute to the expansion of the pore space where adsorbates could be stored. Moreover, taking into account the variety of transition and noble metals, which can be used to form the MOF str… Show more

“…However, the large void space in MOFs is not completely utilized for gas storage because of weak interactions between the walls of MOFs and usually small gas molecules. [8] In order to utilize effectively the MOF pore space, other materials with ordinary structure like microporous [9] and layered [10], [11] can be incorporated as composite components. Bandosz group are well experienced in synthesis of MOF-5/GO and HKUST-1/GO composites as well as their application for either acidic (NO 2 [12], H 2 S [13]) or basic (NH 3 [14], [15]) gases adsorption.…”

“…GO/ MOF composites are also interesting because of their improved porosity; and therefore, the composites have been used in various adsorptions. [16][17][18][19][20] So far, however, to the best of our knowledge, there is no report on the composite formation between SZ and MOF even though SZ is a very useful material in catalysis.…”

“…Several materials such as polyoxometalate (POM), 21,[23][24][25][26] iron oxide [27][28][29] and graphite oxide (GO) [16][17][18][19][20] have been used for the formation of MOF composites. POM/MOF composites have been used in various fields including acid catalyses, oxidation catalyses, adsorption/decontamination and so on.…”
