Multi-scale method for modeling thin sheet buckling under residual stresses in the context of strip rolling

Abstract: International audienceIn cold strip rolling, the transverse gradient of thickness strain results in heterogeneous longitudinal stress σxxσxx. Whenever the latter is compressive in spite of strip tensions, an on-line manifested flatness defect may occur. It is of interest to determine the occurrence and geometric characteristics of such defects. To do this, a two-scale model based on the generalized continuum approach of Damil and Potier-Ferry (2006, 2008) is applied to this problem. It consists in developing t… Show more

“…The equation was described in detail in Appendix. The buckling degree of wave in strip was obtained by using energy method to solve the equation [31][32][33]. In the buckling phase, according to the principle of large deflection energy of thin plate, the of bending strain energy U1 and mid-plane strain energy U2 were calculated.…”

“…Theoretical and experimental studies on the buckling behavior of a strip with initial wave and a flat strip have been conducted to enrich the strip buckling theory. Nakhoul, et al [32], applied the multi-scale method in solid mechanics to discriminate if the strip is unstable and to calculate the post-buckling behavior. Tran, et al [33], studied the relation between residual stress, global tensile stress and buckling for wavy edge flatness defect during the mechanical unloading.…”

“…Metalik malzemelerin yüzeyine belli bir pürüzlülük profili transfer etmek için temper haddeleme işleminden yararlanılır [6][7][8]. Bu etki mekanik olarak temper haddelemeyle % 0,3-3 arasındaki ezme miktarı oranında gerçekleştirilir [9]. Dolayısıyla sac malzemelerin yüzeylerinin pürüzlendirilmesi gerekliliği açık bir şekilde görülebilir.…”
