Nanostructured ZnS and CdS Films Synthesized using Layered Double Hydroxide Films as Precursor and Template

Abstract: Anion exchange reactions in layered double hydroxide films (M(OH)(2-x)(NO(3))(x).mH(2)O) followed by solid state conversion reactions are shown to yield micrometer-sized unsupported metal sulfide (M = Zn, Cd) films with unique textured morphologies. The characteristic three-dimensional nanostructured film morphology and crystallinity of the initial films are retained in the metal sulfide films although these conversion reactions involve anion exchanges concomitant with significant rearrangements of the crystal… Show more

“…The fine spectra of Zn2p, Al2p, and O1s for LDH and LDH‐cy‐CNTs are displayed in Figures 7b–d, respectively. For LDH, the BE for Zn2p 3/2 locates 1022.2 eV, indicative of the presence of Zn 2+ species 46. And Al2p BE at 74.3 eV signifies the binding of AlOH 47.…”

“…To this end, the control of the particle size and the formation of films in which particles are organized are especially under investigation. 149,[214][215][216] Achievements in these fields should lead to real progress in the design of multimaterials, probably concerning multiferroics, optomagnetism or magneto-optics.…”

“…In the recent years, photocatalytic technique, which utilizes a semiconductor as catalyst, has become one of the hot research subjects in the field of photochemistry and has now been widely investigated for environment protection . A variety of semiconductors, such as ZnO , TiO 2 , ZnS , g‐C 3 N 4 , BiOCl , and so on, have been reported as photocatalysts for degradation of organic pollutants. Layered double hydroxides (LDHs), as a typical layered material, were well known as hydrotalcite‐like compounds or anionic clays.…”
