This study aimed to explore the strengths and challenges in formulating a strategy to support the development of the Balek Angin Lake area under the scheme of Sintang Lestari (Sintang sustainable development protocols). This research was carried out in May and June 2019, where field visits focused around the site of Balek Angin Lake located in Akcaya I and Jerora Satu Villages in Sintang subdistrict of Sintang Regency, West Kalimantan Province. This research used a descriptive-quantitative approach. The study uses questionnaires to 10 representative informants, in-depth interviews, and field observations in data collection. Data were analyzed descriptively and SWOT analyses were used to formulate the development strategy. The results of this study show some strengths supporting the development of the area as an ecotourism site, i.e. undisturbed ecosystems, well-protected fish both in quantity and species diversity, the existence of regulation protecting lakes issued by the head of local government (Sintang Regent), and the existence of local nongovernmental organization whose concern in nature protection of Balek Angin lake and upstream of Jemelak River. The main challenge, however, includes the widening business area managed by local residents, such as sand mining, plantation and settlement, disposals from households leading into the lake, and the decrease of household income as the result of the decrease of the price of Sintang's primary commodities. SWOT analyses result in 2.779 : 2.203, which means a horizontal integration strategy where collaboration among different stakeholders is needed. The strategy to develop Balek Angin Lake as an ecotourism site includes the enhancement of the ecosystem through protecting the upstream-downstream area, collaboration of local community and local government through the integration of local community, local NGO, local government, funding NGO, local academia and other environment-conscious stakeholders.

Nepenthes bicalcarata Hook.f. merupakan jenis endemik dengan status konservasi rentan (vulnerable) menurut IUCN Red List. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kelimpahan populasi, asosiasi, dan keterancaman habitat N. bicalcarata di Cagar Alam Mandor, Kalimantan Barat. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis vegetasi, asosiasi jenis tumbuhan menggunakan indeks Ochiai, dan metode unsupervised classification pada citra Landsat 8 untuk mengetahui perubahan penutupan lahan. Penentuan lokasi pengambilan data dilakukan menggunakan metode purposive sampling. Pengambilan data vegetasi tumbuhan menggunakan sepuluh plot berukuran 10Í10 m. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa N. bicalcarata tersebar di delapan dari 14 kabupaten/kota di Kalimantan Barat. Populasi N. bicalcarata pada hutan kerangas berjumlah 300 individu/ha dan dan berasosiasi dengan jenis pohon Cratoxylum glaucum, Gymnostoma nobile, Antidesma coriaceum, Ficus variegata, dan Tristaniopsis merguensis. N. bicalcarata juga berasosiasi dengan Nepenthes lainnya, seperti N. ampullaria, N. rafflesiana, N. gracilis, N. mirabilis dan N. hookeriana. Perubahan penutupan lahan yang signifikan mengakibatkan peningkatan luasan areal terbuka dan pertambangan, sehingga mengancam habitat dan populasi N. bicalcarata. Kelimpahan N. bicalcarata di CA Mandor diprediksi akan semakin berkurang dengan adanya ancaman perubahan penutupan lahan tersebut. Berdasarkan kondisi tersebut, jenis ini perlu dilindungi dan dijaga kelestariannya di alam.

The suitable framework will enable schools to perform Adiwiyata in the best way based on their local potentials. The aim of this research was to get better knowledge about the conditions of schools awardedAdiwiyataas well as to analyze the specific strategies to create sustainabledevelopment of those Adiwiyata schools in Sintang district. This qualitative descriptive researchusedpurposive sampling technique in which the participants were SDN 7 Sintang, SMPN 3 Sungai Tebelian, and MTsN Sintang. The data was collected through questionnaire, in-depth interview, and field observation. The data gained were analized using SWOT. The results indicated that the all Adiwiyata schools achieved outstanding scores (73.15 for SDN 7 Sintang,70.40 for SMPN 3 Sungai Tebelian, and 68.13 forMTsN Sintang). Based on the SWOT analysis, the specific strategies to develop Adiwiyata schools in Sintang district were by utilizing of local unique including planting local plants, developing local culture and tradition on mutual collaboration with surrounding community, and increasing partnership with environmental agencies and the other third parties in building human resources who were reliable in maintaining environmental school program.The suitable framework will enable schools to perform Adiwiyata in the best way based on their local potentials.
