One of the life skills exceedingly be required in the globalization era is critical thinking skills; therefore, every level of education has a role in enhancing critical thinking skills of students, especially biology students'. This research aimed to determine the efforts to enhance the critical thinking skills of students' in biology subject through a Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL). This research used a quasi-experimental method with a total sample of 62 X grade students at SMA Negeri 4 Sintang. The data of critical thinking skills were obtained from pre-and post-test results with essay test instruments. The data were analyzed descriptively employing an inferential statistic with T-test. The inferential statistical analysis revealed that there was a difference in the critical thinking skills between the CTL learning and the expository learning (t = 5.98>1.83). The posttest average score of students' critical thinking skills in the CTL learning was 82.56 and categorized as very good. The post-test average score in the expository learning was 68.37 and categorized as fair. The average score of critical thinking skills in the CTL learning increased by 36.06 while the average score of critical thinking skill in the expository learning increased by 19.42. The results of this research concluded that CTL learning was better to enhance the critical thinking skills of students' in biology subject on the learning material of environmental pollution.
Pitoyo A, Prameta AA, Marsusi, Suratman, Suranto. 2018. Morphological, anatomical and isozyme variability among taro (Colocasia esculenta) accessions from southeastern part of Central Java, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 19: 1811-1819. The objective of this study was to evaluate morphological, anatomical and isozyme variability among taro accessions from southeastern part of Central Java (Indonesia). A total of 20 taro accessions were collected from a wide range of sites during field surveys. Morphological characters measurements were taken on vegetative structures such as roots, stems, leaves, and corms. Anatomical characters were observed from both paradermal and transverse sections of leaf. Identification of biochemical markers was done by using peroxidase and esterase isozyme system. A UPGMA dendrogram among accessions was constructed based on the genetic similarity matrix by applying a cluster analysis using a computer programme, NTSYS Version 2.00. The analysis of variance for morphological and anatomical characters revealed that there was significant difference for majority of the tested traits indicating that there was a variability among the taro accessions. Polymorphism was observed using isozymes of esterase (12 banding pattern) and peroxidase (8 banding pattern). Based on the dendrogram at a level of 62 % similarity, taro accessions were segregated into two major clusters. In Cluster I, the closest relationship was shown between SKH and SKA accessions that had 96 % coefficient of similarity. The ten accessions from Klaten, Sragen, and Karanganyar were then clustered separately as Cluster II with coefficient of similarity 73.52 %.
Digital-age literacy is one of the main skills of the 21st century to be considered in the future education program for prospective science teachers. This study aims to explore the digital-age literacy among prospective science teachers in West Kalimantan (Indonesia) based on the results of self-reflection and self-requirements and to identify the relationship between both variables in digital-age literacy. A sample of 180 prospective science teachers from three educational institutions for prospective science teacher programs in West Kalimantan (Indonesia) completed the survey using two forms of the questionnaires. Findings indicated that the self-requirements (M = 4.40; SD = 0.16) of prospective science teachers thinking on digital-age literacy are higher than the results of self-reflection (M = 2.65; SD = 0.29) on their abilities in digital-age literacy. This result also shows the relationship between digital-age literacy based on self-reflection and self-requirements to be at the medium level, where the correlation coefficient for both variables is 0.560 and value of the correlation is positive and significant. This is explain that if digital-age literacy based on self-requirements increases, then digital-age literacy based on self-reflection also increases.
The suitable framework will enable schools to perform Adiwiyata in the best way based on their local potentials. The aim of this research was to get better knowledge about the conditions of schools awardedAdiwiyataas well as to analyze the specific strategies to create sustainabledevelopment of those Adiwiyata schools in Sintang district. This qualitative descriptive researchusedpurposive sampling technique in which the participants were SDN 7 Sintang, SMPN 3 Sungai Tebelian, and MTsN Sintang. The data was collected through questionnaire, in-depth interview, and field observation. The data gained were analized using SWOT. The results indicated that the all Adiwiyata schools achieved outstanding scores (73.15 for SDN 7 Sintang,70.40 for SMPN 3 Sungai Tebelian, and 68.13 forMTsN Sintang). Based on the SWOT analysis, the specific strategies to develop Adiwiyata schools in Sintang district were by utilizing of local unique including planting local plants, developing local culture and tradition on mutual collaboration with surrounding community, and increasing partnership with environmental agencies and the other third parties in building human resources who were reliable in maintaining environmental school program. The suitable framework will enable schools to perform Adiwiyata in the best way based on their local potentials. The aim of this research was to know the implementation of Adiwiyata green school in SMPN 3 Sintang during Pandemic Covid-19. Qualitative descriptive was used through triangulation method. It was done on February to August 2021. Data collecting used interview, observation and documentation. Partner school was selected through purposive sampling. The key informants consist of Environmental Agency of Sintang Districts stakeholder, SMPN 3 Sintang’s Principal, vice principal in academic affairs, and PIC of Adiwiyata green school program of SMPN 3 Sintang. Data analysis through qualitative descriptive. The results of this research shows that there are a fully support from Environmental Agency of Sintang District in the development of Adiwiyata green school program. However, Covid-19 pandemic affected almost all of environmental program in this district. Based on interview resul SMPN 3 Sintang is still used manual of Permen LH No. 5 Tahun 2013 about Manual of Adiwiyata Program. Nevertheless, central government was already publish new manual of Adiwiyata program with Permen LHK No. 53 Tahun 2019 about Adiwiyata award. The observation results shows that SMPN 3 Sintang environment is in very good condition with high local wisdom values. Minus point of Adiwiyata green school program in SMPN 3 Sintang is that water and energy conservation which is still rare in Sintang District in general. Keywords: Adiwiyata green school, Covid-19 pandemic, SMPN 3 Sintang
