Network Topology of Foreign Exchange Rate

Abstract: In this paper we use a network topology approach to examine the interrelationship of 55 world currencies which is based on correlation analysis. With this point of view, those relationships can be measured by a correlation structure among currencies. To analyse that network, we filter the important information contained therein by using minimum spanning tree, and we interpret it by using a centrality measures. This topology will gives us a useful guide to understand their behaviour and to determine the dominan… Show more

“…Centrality measures help in the finding of most central nodes in the network structure as well as understanding the importance or influence of each stock relative to the others [19]. There are five approaches of centrality measures to be used in this paper which are, (i) degree centrality Degree centrality indicates total quantity of direct connections of a stock has in the network [20].…”

“…It may be an explanation why these papers focus on a regional market at a time: UK companies [183,26], Italian companies [176,184,185], German companies [186,180,187]. Several classes of assets have been investigated through the clustering and network methodology: market indices (especially stocks) [46,188,189,9,153,190,182], equities [191], currencies [61,192,193,194,195,196,197,198,199,200,201,202,203,204,205,206,207,208,209,210,211], commodities [212,213,214,215,216,217,218,219,220,221,222], hous...…”

“…While designing the structure of geodetic control networks an important factor is the optimisation of the structure with possibly the highest amount of information. This course of action provides possibilities of satisfying assumptions about the accuracy characteristics of the parameters being determined and the sensitivity of a model of displacements (Sharif et al, 2012). The identifi cation of movement of points by means of the geodetic method through classic measurements (distance, directions) requires the satisfaction of geometrical conditions for geodetic networks.…”
