Many literary works, such as novels and short stories, have been transformed into works in the form of audio-visual or film. This results in a dualism between enthusiasts of both types of works. Many enthusiasts of original works (novels) are disappointed with the results of the transfer of media to films. However, some people are satisfied with the transfer of the media, even preferring the film version to the original novel. A collection of short stories entitled Rectoverso by Dee Lestari which was transferred into a film has received a lot of praise. A collection of short stories and films are equally able to achieve the attention of the public. The two versions of Rectoverso's works have also received many awards national and international. Thus, this makes researchers interested in studying one of the short stories in Rectiverso entitled Malaikat Juga Tahu and a short film version with the same title. This research aims to find out the differences in the elements of the work of Malaikat Juga Tahu in the form of a short story and short film and to find out how the short story of Malaikat Juga Tahu is narrowed, elaborated and varied to be presented in a short film. This research used a qualitative method with the use of Pamusuk Eneste's ecranization theory as an analytical tool. The results of this research indicate changes in aspects of expansion, narrowing and variations of stories from short stories to short films. These changes were made to make the audience more immersed in the story by adding dramatic elements. In addition, the visualization element that is prioritized in the film version demands changes in the story version so that it is more acceptable to the audience.

In this article, we explored how the Indonesian national hero stories have been constructed and how the academic scholars perceive, critic, and encourage the development of Indonesian children's storybooks about national heroes. We conducted a systematic review of literature in the following steps: (1) formulating the problem, (2) searching the literature, (3) gathering information from studies, (4) interpreting the evidence and (5) presenting the results. We limited our search to stories and studies of national heroes that originally came from Aceh Province. This inclusion criteria narrowed our focus into six Acehnese national heroes; (1) Malahayati, (2) Cut Meutia, (3) Teuku Umar, (4) Cut Nyak Dien, (5) Teuku Nyak Arief, and (6) Teuku Muhammad Hasan. The findings show that the stories of those six Acehnese heroes with their courageous acts have been passed to generations of Indonesians to nurture patriotism. They have been told through school textbooks, movies, and other media. However, we found many of these stories generally tell the same storyline, lead to predictable ends, and expect singular perspective moral value. As the result, such telling of Indonesia's national heroes' stories has turned the national heroes into mythical, unrealistic beings which might make it hard for students to connect and relate. Additionally, the stories typically contain acts of violence with less value on peace and harmony. These findings indicate that Indonesian children's storybooks on national heroes, particularly on those six Acehnese heroes, need to be deconstructed and reconstructed. Children need alternatives to heroes' stories that challenge their critical perspective towards what it means to be a patriot and why maintaining peace and harmony is crucial in Indonesia.

Seseorang yang telah membaca novel tentunya memiliki kepribadian dan sikap yang baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk nilai-nilai nasionalisme di dalam novel 5 cm karya Donny Dhirgantoro. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif untuk melihat, menganalisis, dan mendeskripsikan data mengenai nilai-nilai nasionalisme di dalam novel tersebut. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik menyimak dan mencatat, sedangkan teknik analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis menurut Miles dan Huberman. Hasil analisis menunjukan bahwa novel 5 cm menggambarkan kehidupan kalangan muda dalam mengimplementasikan nilai-nilai nasionalisme berupa (1) penghormatan kepada simbol negara, (2) keikutsertaan dalam upacara kemerdekaan yang berada di atas puncak Gunung Semeru, dan (3) berbagai ucapan para tokoh. Hasil analisis menyimpulkan bahwa nilainilai nasionalisme di dalam novel 5 cm digunakan untuk mengajak para pembaca memiliki jiwa nasionalisme dan rasa cinta terhadap bangsanya.
