Abstract:By incorporating non-ionic oligo(oxyethylene) and crown ether containing substituents, previously inaccessible water soluble linear polysilanes [SiRR'] n and branched polysilynes [SiR] n have been prepared. Their remarkable σ-conjugation related properties are a sensitive probe for silicon backbone conformation. In aqueous solution at ambient temperatures the polymers appear to be dissolved in a highly folded random coil. At the lower critical solution temperature (LCST; 45-50°C) the solution becomes turbid an… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
