Nonlinear Optical Features of Zeolitic Imidazolate Framework-67 Nanocrystals for Mid-Infrared Pulse Generation

Abstract: Through a liquid-phase synthesis route, zeolitic imidazolate framework-67 (ZIF-67) nanomaterials are prepared and deposited onto a quartz glass to form a new type of saturable absorber (SA), of which nonlinear optical (NLO) properties are measured at a wavelength of 2 μm with a homemade nanosecond pulsed laser. The result shows that the ZIF-67 sample exhibits an excellent NLO response. As an application, a stable passively Qswitched (PQS) 2 μm solid-state laser with ZIF-67 as a SA was demonstrated. The pulsed … Show more

“…It intuitively presented that the transmittance increased as the incident laser intensity increased until saturation, which was examined a typical feature of saturable absorbers. During the fitting, we assumed that the nanomaterials possessed instantaneous response with the following relationship [45]:…”

“…32 The prepared ZIF-67 possesses a high specific surface area with good physical features. [33][34][35][36] To date, ZIF-67 has shown good nonlinear absorption performance in the 1, 1.3, and 2 mm regions. [33][34][35] The potential application of ZIF-67 in ultrafast photonics attracts our great interest.…”

“…As a saturable absorber (SA), many emerging graphene-like two-dimensional (2D) nanomaterials have been investigated in the 2 µm wavelength region [13,14], such as transition-metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) [15], g-C 3 N 4 [16], MXenes [17], layered double hydroxide [18], and metal/covalent organic frameworks [19,20]. Among the TMDs, layered vanadium disulfide (VS 2 ) exhibits outstanding synthetic properties [21,22].…”
