“…A variety of constituents are present in TC plant belonging to different classes such as alkaloids, diterpenoid lactones, glycosides, steroids, sesquiterpenoid, phenolics, aliphatic compounds and polysaccharides. Water soluble isoquinoline alkaloids, namely, jatrorrhizine, palamatine, berberine, tembetarine, magnoflorine, choline, tinosporine, isocolumbine and hydrastine are present (Bisset & Nwaiwu, 1983;Gangan, Pradhan, Sipahimalani, & Banerji, 1994;Kumar, Verma, Pande, & Srivastava, 2000;Pachaly & Schneider, 1981;Padhya, 1986;Qudrat-I-Khuda, Khaleque, & Ray, 1964;Sarma, Khosa, & Sahai, 1995;Sarma, Padma, & Khosa, 1998). Since majority of the hypoglycemic activity of TC has been carried out on its aqueous extract, the present studies were undertaken to evaluate TC alkaloid, for their a-glucosidase inhibitory activity in vitro and in vivo.…”

“…Several low and high molecular weight constituents from the aqueous and alcoholic Tc stem extracts have been well characterized [8][9][10][11][12][13]. The aqueous extract of the Tc stem displayed a concentration dependent polyclonal mitogenic activity against murine spleen cells and lymph node cells [12][13][14].…”

“…The major isolated compounds include the norditerpene furan glycosides cordiofolisides A, B, and C [21] the daucanetype sesquiterpenes tinocordifolin and tinocordifolioside [22,23]. In addition, syringin, cordiol, cordioside, and the phenylpropene disaccharides cordifoliosides A and B were identified as the active principles with anticomplement and immunomodulatory activities.…”
