Obesity-related gene ADRB2, ADRB3 and GHRL polymorphisms and the response to a weight loss diet intervention in adult women

Abstract: The individual response to diet may be influenced by gene polymorphisms. This study hypothesized that ADRB2 (Gln27Glu, rs1042714 and Arg16Gly, rs1042713), ADRB3 (Trp64Arg, rs4994) and GHRL (Leu72Met, rs696217) polymorphisms moderate weight loss. The study was a seven weeks dietary weight loss intervention with Brazilian adult obese women (n = 109). The body mass index (BMI) was calculated and polymorphisms in these genes were assessed by real-time PCR assays. Two-way repeated-measures ANOVA (2 × 2) were used t… Show more

“…Other studies indicated a lack of the association (Mokry et al, 2008;Kim et al, 2009). Various results have been obtained regarding the dependence of this polymorphism on obesity development (Zhang et al, 2014;Saliba et al, 2014;Aplalasamy et al, 2015;Leonska-Duniec et al, 2016). In our previous studies the association of the ADRB2 gene polymorphic variant C79G (rs1072714) with the development of obesity in COPD patients was shown (Gorovenko et al, 2014;Gorovenko et al, 2015).…”

“…In a study investigating the effect of Arg16Gly, Gln27Glu and Trp64Arg polymorphisms on weight loss among adult obese (n = 109) women in Brazil, a seven-week dietary and physical activity intervention did not result in significant differences in weight loss between polymorphisms carriers and non-carriers [39]. Interestingly, the presence of the Arg64 allele in the ADRB3 gene was associated with lower BMI and high density lipoprotein cholesterol levels in individuals with T2DM in Brazil [40], and the Arg64 allele was negatively associated with HTN in a population of approximately 1800 in China [41].…”

“…De acordo com recentes pesquisas o ADRB3 localizado no cromossomo 8 humano região 8p12 expresso especificamente no tecido adiposo, é considerado o principal receptor envolvido na termogênese e mobilização de lipídio no tecido adiposo (KUROKAWA et al, 2008;SALIBA et al, 2014). …”
