“…Therefore, the concentrations of 4-NP in the Shijing River are considered to be very high compared to reported values in other parts of the world, suggesting a high consumption of nonylphenol ethoxylates in this region and/or by poorly operating WWTPs.The antimicrobials, TCC and TCS, were detected at all sampling sites both during wet and dry seasons, which is consistent with the extensive usage of these two chemicals in China (Zhao et al, 2013;Zhang et al, 2015b). The maximum concentrations of TCC (210 ng/L) and TCS (282 ng/L) in the water samples were higher than most corresponding reported concentration data worldwide (not detected (n.d)-75 ng/L for TCC and n.d-285 ng/L for TCS) (e.g., Kantiani et al, 2008;Kumar et al, 2010;Katz et al, 2013;Montagner et al, 2013;Gautam et al, 2014;Lv et al, 2014). Among acid pharmaceuticals, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs of ibuprofen and diclofenac are the compounds with the highest detection frequencies, followed by clofibric acid and indomethacin.…”

“…Concentrations of TCC in the environment are found at concentrations of parts per trillion in surface waters and parts per million for biosolids. TCC was detected in surface waters in concentrations between 0.05 and 6.75 ng/L mainly in China and the USA [1,8], corresponding to the high use of personal and domestic hygiene and cosmetic products. Maximum concentrations were detected in countries such as India and South Africa, respectively, at concentrations of 1119 and 360 ng/L [9].…”

“…In recent decades, numerous studies have reported the occurrence of TCC at up to 100% detection frequencies in various environments around the world including the United States and China, especially in WWTP effluents, surface waters, biosolids, and sediments (Tables S1 and S2). Specifically, sediments receiving treated and untreated wastewater inputs are known to contain TCC in high μg/kg to low mg/kg quantities . The average accumulative concentrations of TCC can reach up to 39 ± 59 and 25.2 ± 0.6 mg/kg in tested biosolids from the United States and China, respectively. , TCC has been ranked as one of the top 10 emerging environmental contaminants globally .…”
