In Brazil, the Atlantic Forest has suffered from deforestation, which has caused impacts on its flora, fauna, and microbiota. This biome is considered one of the main tourist and birdwatching destinations due to the large number of species, especially Passeriformes. However, the fungal diversity present in these environments is little known and studied. In this work, a total of 148 samples from 74 wild birds (74 feathers and 74 feces) and 16 samples of litter were collected in Itatiaia National Park, southeastern Brazil. Filamentous fungi isolated from these samples were identified using macroscopic and microscopic characteristics. Among birds, Aspergillus spp., Mucor spp., Cladosporium spp., Fusarium spp., Penicillium spp. and Syncephalastrum spp. were identified in higher abundance. In litter, Aspergillus spp., Fusarium spp. and Penicillium spp. were identified. These results indicate the presence of saprophytic fungi species in the feathers and feces of wild birds and in the litter of the capture site. Further studies should be conducted in order to elucidate if the mycobiota profile modifies with anthropization and if it interferes with bird health and environmental recovery.

Os fungos são microrganismos eucarióticos ubíquos com presença de parede celular, sendo encontrados principalmente no solo, vegetais, água e no ar. Os fungos desempenham um papel importante no ciclo de decomposição da matéria orgânica. Ambientes públicos como praças e parques, destinados ao lazer da população, são locais onde também circula diariamente um grande número de pessoas e animais. Este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar a presença de fungos filamentosos no solo de praças e parques públicos da cidade de João Pessoa, Nordeste do Brasil. Amostras de solo de seis praças/parques foram coletadas e então processadas e cultivadas. Além disso, fungos queratinofílicos foram isolados usando cabelo estéril como substrato. Fungos filamentosos foram isolados de todas as amostras. O gênero mais frequente foi Aspergillus (100% das amostras), seguido por Trichophyton (66,7%) e Penicillium (33,3%). Aspergillus seção Nigri foi isolada em 66,7% das amostras, seguido por Aspergillus seção Flavi, Aspergillus seção Terrei e Trichophyton rubrum, que foram isoladas em 50% das amostras). Vários gêneros e espécies com potencial patogênico ao homem foram isolados de todos os pontos selecionados. Esses achados reforçam a importância do conhecimento da composição do solo dos espaços destinados ao uso público, contribuindo com informações à população, principalmente aos mais vulneráveis, quanto ao uso consciente desses ambientes para atividades recreativas.

RESUMO: O solo é o principal ambiente de ocorrência da maioria dos fungos e tem grande importância para suas atividades biológicas. Este habitat abriga especialmente fungos queratinofílicos, que fazem parte de um grupo de microrganismos capazes de produzir enzimas que degradam a queratina, destacando-se os dermatófitos, agentes de micoses em humanos e animais, sendo alguns responsáveis por infecções oportunistas. Com base no exposto, este estudo teve por objetivo detectar a ocorrência de fungos queratinofílicos em solo de recintos que abrigam mamíferos selvagens. Para isso, foram coletadas 395 amostras de solo do Parque Estadual de Dois Irmãos (PEDI), localizado na cidade de Recife - PE. As amostras foram processadas pela técnica de suspensão do solo e cultivadas em placas de Petri contendo Ágar Sabouraud Dextrose acrescido de cloranfenicol. A identificação dos fungos filamentosos foi realizada através de microcultivo em lâmina, baseando-se na observação de características macro e micromorfológicas das colônias. Como resultados, foram obtidas 233 Unidades Formadoras de Colônias (UFC), das quais 85 (36,5%) eram provenientes do solo que abrigava mamíferos da ordem Carnivora, seguido por 84 UFC (36%) em solo de mamíferos da ordem Primates. Em relação aos fungos identificados, observou-se uma maior ocorrência de Microsporum gypseum com 123 UFC (52,8%), seguido por Chrysosporium sp. com 28 UFC (12,0%) e Fusarium sp. com 10 UFC (4,30%). Animais que vivem em recintos contaminados podem ser portadores assintomáticos de muitas doenças fúngicas, atuando na transmissão para outros animais e seres humanos. Como forma preventiva, salienta-se melhoria nas condições higiênicas e de manejo. PALAVRAS-CHAVE: fungos, dermatófitos, micoses, animais selvagens.
