“…The Rio 2016 Education Programme was one of the most effective tools for the organizing committee of the Olympic Games to pass on messages to Brazilian youngsters and teachers (Kirst & Silva, 2017). Thus, the knowledge of the Olympic values and symbols, as well as new sports, probably reached a level that was never seen before in Brazil (DaCosta et al, 2017).…”

“…The programme reached over 10,000 schools and 5 million students across Brazil. It taught Olympic values and new sports, yet the long-term benefits of it can be put into question: there were no significant effects for life in society and about half of the professionals who participated in it stopped using the teaching materials 1 year after the conclusion of the Olympic Games (Kirst and Tavares da Silva, 2018). This again means the sustainability of the Games can be called into question, bearing in mind the relatively brief impact of this education programme.…”

“…The Program offered on-site workshops for PE teachers to learn and teach different Olympic and Paralympic sports in their schools. Through school challenges, experimentations of new Olympic and Paralympic sports, digital educational content for distance learning, and Transforma sports festivals, the Program attempted to engage schools around the nation [55,56]. A survey of more than 600 teachers who participated in the training highlighted the benefits from the Transforma program and its contribution to the improved educational outcomes in participating schools [57].…”
