Blended learning is a set of pedagogical strategies and practices that are closely related to the emergence of new technologies in society and in higher education. They are characterized by a combination of face-to-face and online learning that integrates a variety of materials in the teaching and learning process. The aim of our research was to analyze scientific production on this topic using two prestigious international databases: Scopus and Web of Science (WOS). A bibliometric study was conducted on 508 papers, and content analysis was performed on 119 openly accessible publications. Results show that blended learning is being applied in all scientific and professional spheres. This learning model is praised for its positive impact on motivation and learning effectiveness, as well as for promoting student autonomy. With respect to content, it is worth noting that many authors observe that methodological success is related to cultural context and access to devices and materials. Furthermore, it is suggested that greater methodological diversity is preferable to a single hegemonic approach. In short, the present paper contributes to the educational community by shedding light on how blended learning is being implemented and its impact on higher education.

In recent years, the growing popularity of gamification in learning-organization has shown that it will become an integral part of both traditional and online education at different educational levels. Schools have begun to recognize the value of a successful gamification strategy in motivating students and stimulating the effectiveness of the learning process. The article presents a kind of game-based teaching-learning environment, a solution for integrating digital games into the learning-teaching process, linking theoretical and practical knowledge by the game through e-learning of accounting skills with special emphasis on the experiential learning method. The game-based virtual classroom presented in the present article has been working successful in higher education for several years, the number of the active students grown from semester to semester, the gamification becomes more and more popular in this level of the education, too.

The wide implementation of "Made in China 2025" has had a significant influence on higher education in industrial engineering in China, and the required knowledge and skills of industrial engineers in enterprises have changed considerably. However, the current practical teaching approaches and content employed in industrial engineering education are insufficient to meet the realistic requirements. To address this issue, this paper reviews research on digital technologies in education and identifies the required digitalization engineering competencies and skills of industrial engineers through a joint investigation of job descriptions and graduates' feedback. A new practical teaching scheme with digital technologies for training qualified industrial engineers is presented. Finally, the key measures to successfully implement the new practical teaching scheme are introduced. The new practical teaching scheme is gradually being implemented and promoted at Wenzhou University and has achieved good results based on an investigation and analysis of the teaching effects. This study is expected to contribute to improve the practical teaching environment and outcomes through student's active and total participation in a realistic engineering problem-solving process with a digital simulation platform.
