Optimal Distributed Generation and Reactive Power Allocation in Electrical Distribution Systems

Abstract: Optimal and simultaneous siting and sizing of distributed generators and capacitor banks in distribution systems have attracted a lot of attention from distribution companies. The placement and capacity of these devices have direct effects on the system's performance. This paper presents a model for the simultaneous allocation of capacitor banks and distributed generation, which takes into account the stochastic nature of distributed generation. To solve the model presented, we propose an efficient hybrid meth… Show more

“…The outcomes of projected hybrid FLC technique also evaluated with the outcomes found from ALO algorithm and ALO-PSO method. Figures 4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12 and 13 presents outcomes in graphical format. With the proposed method actual and reactive power losses reduction, TOC reduction, minimum value of voltage improvement and the minimum VSI improvements are 82.22%, 80.32%, 8138.9 $, 0.98168 and 0.9279 respectively.…”

“…In [10], an analytical method for the allocation of DGs in radial DS has been introduced to reduce active and reactive power losses. In [11], a hybrid method based on tabu search and GA has been proposed to integrate DG and capacitor banks to DS for enhancing system performance. In [12], a modified jaya algorithmbased multi-objective function for allocation of DG with high penetration has been produced to reduce active losses and improve the voltage profile and has been carried out on standard IEEE 33-bus DS.…”
