Optimal multiple microgrids based forming of greenfield distribution network under uncertainty

Abstract: Multiple microgrid (MMG) operation concept of community microgrid (MG) provides enhanced resiliency and reliability through self-healing, enabling a high penetration of distributed generations (DGs), power interchange between MGs and realtime communication. In this study, the methodology of optimal design of low-voltage greenfield distribution grids based on multiple MGs in the presence of uncertainties is presented. The electrical and geographical borders of MGs community are determined using some important c… Show more

“…The researchers modeled the stochastic behavior of the wind speed employing many approaches including the Weibull probability density function (PDF) [32]- [34], Rayleigh PDF [35], Monte Carlo method [36], time series analysis [37], statistical method [38], and artificial intelligence [39]. Then, in the next step, they calculated the power output of the wind farms from the wind speed associated power curves.…”

“…Therefore, in addition to the uncertain parameters that have been taken into account in [25], the work presented in [26] has also determined the uncertainty of electricity price. Optimal location, size, and type of distributed generation units for multiple MGs are selected in [27], while the probabilistic methods are utilised to capture the uncertainty of renewable power generation. It is worth mentioning that uncertainty management is generally acceptable in short-term scheduling not long-term planning.…”

“…The technologies of integrating renewable energy into smart grids are booming where renewables, including wind, solar and bio-energy, have become promising resources around the globe [1,2]. Taking the UK for example, renewables from wind, solar, hydro, and biofuel take up 26.6% of the total electricity generation [3].…”
