Oroantral communication repair using bone substitute and platelets rich fibrin

Abstract: Purpose: The aim of this study is to evaluate oroantral communication (OAC) repair using one bone substitute (Fisiograft) and platelets rich fibrin (PRF). Patients and methods: In the present study, eight patients complaining from OAC following extraction of maxillary posterior tooth were selected. The bony defect of the OAC was grafted with Fisiograft sandwiched between two PRF membranes. Then the graft was covered by buccal advancement flap. The patients were followed up clinically after 1, 2, 4 and 12 weeks… Show more

“…A CBS deve ser fechada para impedir a passagem de fluídos, outros conteúdos da boca e bactérias orais no seio maxilar. O tratamento precoce da CBS é de grande importância para impedir a formação de uma fístula oroantral, além do desenvolvimento de uma sinusite maxilar crônica (ELSHOURBAGY, et al, 2015).…”

“…Currently, platelet concentrates have been the focus of many basic and clinical studies, [10], with the majority of scientific articles mainly addressing its therapeutic potential as a surgical adjuvant in dentistry, such as peri-implantology and maxillofacial surgery [11][12][13][14]. Besides, further studies on the treatment of chronic wounds and muscle-tendinous lesions in humans have introduced the topic in the medical field as a promising therapeutic potential [15][16][17][18][19][20][21].…”
