Output Voltage Regulation of a High-Efficiency High Step-Up DC-DC Power Converter

Abstract: Abstract-Step-up dc-dc power converters are needed in many applications. Depending on the voltage conversion ratio, one or another structure should be chosen, usually leading to efficiency vs. conversion ratio trade-offs. Recently, a new class of switchmode dc-dc power converters has been introduced into the literature. These new converters show high efficiency levels at high conversion ratios, making them attractive to applications where efficiency is a major concern. Due to the complexity of the structure, m… Show more

“…High gain topologies were also studied using switchedinductor techniques to improve the gain [10], soft-switching techniques to improve the efficiency [11]- [15], and control techniques to improve the output voltage regulation [16] compared to previous work. Recently, coupled-inductor techniques were used together with switched-capacitor [17] and voltage doubler [18] circuits to achieve even higher voltage gain.…”

“…As a first step, in order to gain some insight into the dynamical behavior of the converter, a small-signal swept-sine analysis has been performed over a simulation model as presented in [57]. The simulation environment used and the considerations taken to perform the simulations are described in detail in Section II.3.…”

“…In this case, time-domain system identification techniques have been used to obtain the transfer function that describes the dynamic behavior of the stepup converter with the input current control loop closed. The procedure followed keeps structure used to find the plant to be controlled by the outer control loop on the output voltage regulation scheme presented in [57].…”
