Overexpression of miR-758 inhibited proliferation, migration, invasion, and promoted apoptosis of non-small cell lung cancer cells by negatively regulating HMGB

Abstract: Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is one of the most fatal types of cancer with significant mortality and morbidity worldwide. MicroRNAs (miRs) have been confirmed to have positive functions in NSCLC. In the present study, we try to explore the role of miR-758 in proliferation, migration, invasion, and apoptosis of NSCLC cells by regulating high-mobility group box (HMGB) 3 (HMGB3.) NSCLC and adjacent tissues were collected. Reverse transcription quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR) was employed to detect expression of … Show more

“…miRNAs can regulate nearly all biological processes, such as proliferation, differentiation, senescence, migration, and invasion of cancer cells including NSCLC . For example, miR‐155‐5p can inhibit the proliferation, migration, and invasion of NSCLC cells via regulating high‐mobility group box . While miR‐411 can promote lung carcinogenesis by directly targeting suppressor genes SPRY4 and TXNIP .…”

“…Besides that, we found miR-1179 inhibited NPC progression by downregulating HMGB3. Similarly, miR-758 was reported to inhibit proliferation, migration, invasion of non-small cell lung cancer cells by negatively regulating HMGB3 [23]. More importantly, lncRNA-SNHG5 was found to facilitate NPC development by upregulating HMGB3, which has not been investigated in NPC.…”

“…12 However, miR-500 and miR-628 promote NSCLC occurrence, migration and invasion by targeting ING1. 10 miRNAs have been found to be potential prognostic markers in NSCLC acting as either oncogenes or tumor suppressors.…”
