Özel Gereksinimi Olan Çocukların Ailelerinde Umutsuzluk ve Depresyon

Abstract

Bu çalışma, özel gereksinimi olan çocukların ailelerinde umutsuzluk düzeyinin saptanması, umutsuzluk ile ilgili olduğu düşünülen bazı değişkenlerin incelenmesi ve umutsuzluk ile depresyon arasındaki ilişkinin değerlendirilmesi amacı ile yapılmıştır. Çalışma, Sakarya ilindeki özel eğitim kurumlarında eğitim gören özel gereksinimi olan çocukların ebeveynleri üzerinde yapılmıştır. Çalışma süresince Sakarya ilindeki özel eğitim kurumlarına müracaat eden ve çalışmaya katılmayı kabul eden toplam 109 aile çalışma grubunu oluşturdu. Çalışmanın amacına uygun olarak hazırlanmış görüşme formu, Beck Depresyon ve Umutsuzluk Ölçekleri gözlem altında aileler tarafından dolduruldu. Bu çalışmada depresyon şüphesi sıklığı %36.7 olarak saptanmıştır. Depresyon Ölçeğinden alınan puanlar ile Umutsuzluk Ölçeğinden alınan puanlar arasında pozitif yönde bir ilişki saptanmıştır (r=0.451; p=0.000). Özel gereksinimi olan çocukların ailelerinde umutsuzluk önemli bir ruh sağlığı sorunudur. Umutsuzlukla ilişkili değiştirilebilir olduğu bilinen faktörlerle ilgili olarak çözümler bulunması için daha kapsamlı çalışmalar yapılması, depresyon şüphesi olanların saptanması için koruyucu ruh sağlığı hizmetlerinin yaygınlaştırılması yararlı olacaktır.
