“…This is best illustrated by the report from Memorial 276 S. Alkan et al Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York, where out of 327 patients less than 21 years with differentiated thyroid cancer 83 had distant metastasis; 90% of this group had regional nodal metastasis and 48% had extrathyroidal extension and all had distant metastasis to the lung at presentation. However, despite the aggressive clinical characteristic of differentiated thyroid carcinoma in their series survival rate was 100% after 10 years [10]. The bilateral neck dissection specimen of our patient showed numerous papillary carcinoma metastases, however studies on the lung were negative for disease.…”

“…When compared with adults, pediatric DTCs show a more aggressive clinical course with 60% to 80% presenting with regional lymph node metastasis and 10% to 20% with pulmonary metastasis. 1,2,4,[7][8][9] In this case report, we present a 3year-old American boy diagnosed with papillary thyroid carcinoma who has a family history of thyroid cancer and thyroid disease but no known history of radiation exposure, followed by a literature review with discussion on the management and treatment of pediatric thyroid papillary carcinoma.…”
