“…Therefore, they are applied in a wide range of heterogeneous catalysis elds. [7][8][9][10] As is well-known, heterogeneous catalysts have the advantages of a stable structure and easy separation of products. Meanwhile, they also have some weakness, such as the low metal utilization rate and the low catalyst efficiency, which leads to the wasting of noble metal resources, the increase of production costs and the catalysts to be bulky and heavy.…”

“…Conversely, several adsorbents show excellent performances in immobilizing Cr(III) species. On the other hand HAP showed a remarkable capability to adsorb Cr(III) from aqueous solutions, operating the immobilization at the HAP surface with different mechanisms depending on the pH value [32]. The effectiveness of HAP emerges more clearly when the adsorption capacity is normalized respect to the surface area of the solid adsorbent.…”

“…However, a more exhaustive comparison must take into account the overall reduction/immobilization process of Cr(VI) to Cr(III). [32] proposed in the literature for the reduction/adsorption of Cr(VI). For comparative purposes, the removal capacity has been expressed for metal unit (mg Cr ⋅ g Me −1 ).…”

“…It has been revealed that the Cr(VI) compounds are acutely toxic, and however, the Cr(III) is less toxic to the environment, which is easy to remove through the formation of hydroxide species . Therefore, several strategies have been proposed to deal with Cr(VI) compounds. One possible way is to reduce the Cr(VI) to Cr(III) by photocatalysis, and another is to take advantage of the reductants, which is considered to be the most effective approach and has attracted immense interest. Particularly, in the process of chemical reduction, formic acid (HCOOH) is regarded as a promising reductant, which is used for the reduction of Cr(VI) to Cr(III) due to its high reducing ability and effectiveness.…”
