The COVID-19 pandemic has spread to the whole world, including Indonesia. People have made various efforts to overcome this outbreak. One of them is through local wisdom, such as in Cirebon-Indonesia. Cirebon people carry out the Azan Pitu ritual to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic that has spread in Cirebon. This study aims to explore the local knowledge system or local wisdom regarding Azan Pitu in overcoming the COVID-19 outbreak. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with observation and in-depth interviews for collecting data. In the analysis process, this study uses Victor Turner’s ritual theory and Bronislaw Malinowski’s functional analysis theory. The study’s results found that people first performed the Azan Pitu ritual to overcome the outbreak of menjangan wulung during the Sunan Gunung Djati era. However, Cirebon people maintain it as a tradition to prevent disease outbreaks, including during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Azan Pitu ritual to ward off COVID-19 has changed form and function, but it does not diminish its essential meaning: the community’s efforts to expel COVID-19.Contribution: This study contributes to broadening insights into ritual studies, especially those related to epidemics and disasters.

Menurut Mazmur 23, bagi raja Daud Tuhan itu adalah gembalanya. Di Perjanjian Baru Tuhan Yesus sendiri menyatakan bahwa Dia adalah gembala yang baik. Cerita lainnya yang Alkitab tulis adalah bagaimana selama empat puluh tahun Allah mengembalakan bangsa Israel keluar dari Mesir menuju tanah Perjanjian. Penelitian artikel ini bertujuan ingin menjabarkan pandangan teologi Pentakosta memaknai Allah sebagai gembala. Adapun metodologi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis teks dan kajian literatur. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian artikel ini Allah sebagai gembala dimaknai berupa pimpinan Allah dalam kehidupan orang percaya dimana Allah memimpin orang percaya untuk masuk dalam rencana-Nya yang sempurna. Allah sebagai gembala juga berarti ada perlindungan dan pemeliharaan Allah yang nyata bagi orang percaya. Allah mengembalakan orang percaya karena didorong oleh cinta kasih-Nya pada orang percaya yang tidak akan tega membiarkan orang percaya berjalan sendiri.

“…Keluaran 19:6 merupakan pernya-taan Allah langsung tentang keturunan Yakub (umat Israel) kepada Musa saat di gunung Sinai. Israel ada demi bangsa-bangsa lain sebagai perantara antara Allah dan bangsa lain (Supriadi, Halawa, & Daeli, 2020, p. 20 (Zaluchu, 2020a). The Coronavirus Disease 2019 pandemic continues to increase its spread. The government has made efforts to contain the space by enacting several health protocols by March 2020. However, many Indonesians have not followed through on this appeal, and this situation also occurs in the context of the church. The Covid-19 pandemic is predicted to subside at the end of August or early September 2020, but this has not been realized. The authors observe the phenomenon of failure to recognize this due to a lack of adherence to health protocols. Obedience is an important principle that needs to be understood and implemented by all Indonesian people, especially Christians and church leaders. This research used the descriptive method to identify the phenomenon to get to the main problem, namely the concept of obedience. This research got the theological formulation of obedience to the government, namely priestly service, political service, and submission to government policies that have justice and humanity values.
