The tofu industry in Indonesia has mainly not processed its waste before it is discharged into the environment. This study seeks to ascertain the effectiveness of granular activated carbon magnetic adsorbents in removing pollutant characteristics from tofu wastewater. The effectiveness of the allowance resulting from the processing procedure will be assessed using variations in the mass of magnetic granular activated carbon and adsorption time. Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) and magnetic GAC production are activated using a modified green coprecipitation approach. Tofu wastewater samples used in this study contained COD of 5080 mg/L and BOD of 828 mg/L. The magnetic GAC variations with an adsorbent mass of 7.5 g/L and an absorption duration of 60 minutes, a COD value of 2930 mg/L, and an allowance ability of 42.32%, have the best ability to remove COD, according to the research done for the COD test. The allowed for the BOD parameters that produced the best results was 345 mg/L, and the 45-minute absorption time treatment with a GAC concentration of 10 g/L resulted in a removal efficiency of 58.38%.

The tofu industry in Indonesia is one of the most popular industries among Indonesians. Unfortunately, almost all tofu industries in Indonesia do not treat their wastewater correctly. Tofu liquid waste contains many pollutants as organic molecules and solids in suspension. This study aims to treat tofu liquid waste using magnetic GAC thus it is safe when when discharged into bodies of water. The adsorption process in tofu wastewater research is carried out using adsorbents. The adsorbent used is Granular Activated Carbon (GAC). The adsorbent activation process applies the wet activation method, and magnetic GAC is modified green coprecipitation method synthesis. Based on the completed research, it was found that the best allowance for turbidity test was the 15 minutes adsorption time treatment given a magnetic GAC concentration of 10 g/L with the removal efficiency of 73.92% and the best TSS concentration was adsorbtion with a magnetic GAC concentration of 7.5 g/L within 30 minutes adsorption time with a removal efficiency of 56.76%.

Dalam metode elektrokoagulasi, yang menggunakan elektroda yang bertindak sebagai koagulan untuk melepaskan ion-ion logam yang ada di dalam air dan menghilangkan kotoran, arus listrik dialirkan melalui air. Limbah cair tahu harus diolah sebelum dibuang ke air karena sering kali dibuang ke badan air yang mungkin memiliki pengaruh negatif terhadap kualitas air. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menurunkan kadar TSS dan BOD pada limbah cair tahu dengan metode elektrokoagulasi. Air limbah yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini dikumpulkan dari Jl Abri Dusun III Desa Pancur Batu Hulu Kecamatan Pancur Batu, Kabupaten Deli Serdang, Sumatera Utara. Parameter yang dievaluasi adalah TSS dan BOD yang mengacu pada Peraturan Menteri Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan Republik Indonesia Nomor P.68/Menlhk-Setjen Tahun 2016, dengan variasi waktu 40, 45, dan 50 menit pada tegangan 12 volt dan jarak elektroda 2 cm. Hasil analisa menunjukkan persentase penurunan kadar TSS dan BOD tertinggi saat waktu 50 menit. Hal ini akan menurunkan kadar TSS sebesar 90,05% dan BOD sebesar 70,89% maka ini menunjukkan bahwa metode elektrokoagulasi efektif digunakan untuk mengolah limbah cair tahu.
