Background: Meniran (Phyllathus niruri) and pegagan (Centella asiatica) are well-known medicinal plants in Indonesia. Uses of meniran and pegagan as herbal medicines need to be examined for their subchronic activity to assure their safety. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate subchronic effects of a combination of extracted meniran and pegagan on Wistar rats through haematological parameters (erythrocytes, haemoglobin, haematocrit, MCV, MCH, and MCHC). Methods: Animal models used were 56 male and female Wistar rats and were divided randomly into 4 groups. Group 1 received CMC-Na 1% (control group). Group 2 received extracts of meniran and pegagan (50:50 mg/kgBW). Group 3 received extracts of meniran and pegagan (250:250 mg/kgBW). Group 4 received extracts of meniran and pegagan (1250:1250 mg/kgBW). Subchronic test of meniran and pegagan was conducted by providing treatments for the Wistar rats for 28 days. Their haematological substances were analysed statistically by using one way ANOVA and Kruskal-Wallis method with confidence interval of 95% and post-hoc. Results: This study found that the haematological substances in male Wistar rats were normal and did not significantly change (p>0,05). It also showed that haemoglobin and haematocrit substances in female rats were normal and did not significantly change (p>0,05). Erythrocytes, MCV, MCH, and MCHC in female rats indicated significant change (p<0,05), but they were still in normal ranges. Conclusion:It could be concluded that administration of the combination of extracted meniran and pegagan was not toxic to haematology of the rats in all doses.Latar Belakang: Meniran (Phyllanthus niruri L.) dan pegagan (Centella asiatica L.) merupakan salah satu tanaman obat yang dikenal baik di Indonesia. Pemanfaatan meniran dan pegagan perlu dilakukan evaluasi secara subkronis untuk melihat keamanannya. Tujuan: Untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh pemberian subkronis kombinasi herba meniran dan herba pegagan pada tikus galur Wistar terhadap parameter hematologi (eritrosit, hemoglobin, hematokrit, MCV, MCH dan MCHC). Metode: Studi ini menggunakan tikus galur Wistar jantan dan betina sebanyak 56 ekor yang dibagi secara acak menjadi 4 kelompok. Kelompok 1 diberi CMC-Na 1% (kelompok kontrol).

The community of Kemlaten village has a habit of using wild plants as food and medicine. The purpose of this study was to describe the types of wild plants used by the Kemlaten village community, Parengan District, as food and medicine and as well as their morphology. This quantitative descriptive study was conducted in March-April 2022 in the Kemlaten village area. The results of the study showed that there were 25 species of wild plants used as food and medicine by the Kemlaten villagers. Of the 25 wild plant species, 32% are used as food and 68% as medicine. The results of the morphological analysis of wild plants used as food and medicine by the villagers of Kemlaten are dominated by single-leaf plants and woody stems. The morphology of these wild plants differs from one another according to the type or family of these wild plants.

Summary Introduction: Phyllanthus niruri L. (PnL) is a herbaceous plant containing flavonoid quercetin and can be used as an immunomodulator to prevent Covid-19. However, the flavonoid content and yield of herbs extract were not maximized. Therefore, PnL herbs were planted in various harvest periods and application of NPK-chitosan nanopolymer fertilizer to estimate these parameters. Objectives: Determine the effect of NPK-chitosan nanopolymer fertilizer and harvesting age on herb extracts also determine the grouping pattern and correlation between responses based on FTIR-ATR spectral pattern using a chemometric approach. Methods: Each group consisted of 50 plants. The formulation of NPK-chitosan nanopolymer fertilizer based on the dose of NPK consisting of the first dose is 15.5 grams/group, the second dose is 31 grams/group, and the third dose is 7.5 grams/group. Grouping of differences in harvesting age for plants consisted of 4, 6, and 8 weeks after the plant (WAP). Extraction used ultrasound-assisted extraction, and data were analyzed using a chemometric approach. Results: Extract with the highest yield was found in second harvest time and third doses of fertilizer (W2D3) which is 9.73 %, and the highest TFC obtained in an extract with second harvest time and first doses of fertilizer (W2D1) is 17.34 mg QE/g. Total flavonoid content and extract yield were influenced by functional groups at wavenumbers 3486.77–3157.12 cm−1 (1); 1740.96–1670.34 cm-1 (3); 1425.02–1272.62 cm-1 (5); 1257,753–1138,81 cm−1 (6); 1131.38–945.53 cm-1 (7); 711.36–529.23 cm-1 (8). Conclusions: The results showed that harvest time and fertilizer dose affected the growth parameters of PnL, total flavonoid content, and yield of extract. Functional groups in IR spectra also have positive and negative correlations with total flavonoid and yield extract responses.
