Kegiatan pengabdian ini merupakan salah satu solusi untuk melestarikan kebudayaan daerah pada masa pandemi Covid-19. Tim Pengabdian berupaya untuk melakukan kegiatan pelatihan tari Jathil terhadap siswa sekolah dasar di Desa Karangan yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan minat siswa Desa Karangan terhadap budaya daerah khususnya tari Jathil serta untuk melestarikan tari Jathil agar tidak luntur karena perkembangan zaman. Kegiatan pengabdian ini menggunakan metode pelatihan dan pendampingan yang dilakukan kepada siswa sekolah dasar di Desa Karangan. Tahapan-tahapan yang dilakukan dalam pengabdian ini antara lain tahap persiapan (observasi, wawancara, koordinasi, dan pembuatan konsep), tahap pelaksanaan (pelatihan dan pemilihan), dan tahap evaluasi. Melalui kegiatan pengabdian ini terlihat bahwa siswa memiliki antusiasme yang tinggi dalam mengikuti pelatihan. Sehingga mereka dapat menerapkan ilmu dan pengetahuan yang diperoleh dari hasil pelatihan tari Jathil untuk melestarikan tari Jathil di Desa Karangan.

Character-building education is related to character components that contain behavioral values to develop in stages at an early age until higher education. The connection between knowledge of behavioral values with attitudes or emotions. To implement them, it must start at an early age. The government has already developed curriculum, especially in kindergarten. Somehow, extra-curricular activities are needed to help the students of TK Aisiyah Bustanul Athfal (Aisiyah Bustanul Athfal Kindergarten) to engraft character education. Therefore, the aim of this study is to explain in-depth about the extra-curricular activities in TK ABA, Banjarmasin and the effects of each extra-curricular to the students' character building in those kindergartens. The method of this study was qualitative with phenomenology approach. Collecting data was using deep interviews with the headmaster, the parents and the teachers in three kindergartens of TK ABA in Banjarmasin. Inductive content analysis was used to break down the data in small units, to code and name the units according to the content and to group the coded material based on the same concepts. The results of this study indicated that various extra-curricular activities carried out, such as dance, drum bands, Tahfidz Al-Quran and so on can engraft positive character in TK ABA students such as love of Al Qur'an, honest, discipline, independence, communicative, helping others, responsible, confident, cooperation and courageous.

The main problem in this study is that the character of the child has not developed as expected; it can be seen when the child has not been able to maintain personal and environmental hygiene, has not been able to get used to being present on time, being actively involved, maintaining cohesiveness, thinking creatively and not following the rules of the teacher. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of dance activities in shaping the character of early childhood. The research method uses quantitative methods with this type of research, namely inferential research. The research subjects involved 19 children consisting of 4 boys and 15 girls. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, documentation, and interviews. The data from the recapitulation of observations on the character of early childhood before being given treatment on aspects of discipline, cooperation, and creativity. The Very Good Developed (VGD) category is 0%, the Developing as Expected (DE) category is 26.31%, the Start Developing (SD) category is 40.35%, and the Undeveloped (ND) category is 33.33%. After being given treatment, namely the Very Good Developing (VGD) category, there were 56.13%, the Developing as Expected (DE) category was 26.31%, the Starting to Develop (SD) category was 17.55%, and the Undeveloped or Not Developed (ND) category was 0%. Based on the results of the t-test count data, the t-count value <table 23.004> t-table 1.729, and the significant value 0.000 <0.05. Hence, it can be concluded that Ha is rejected and Ha is accepted, which means that there is an influence of dance activities in shaping the character of early childhood during the COVID-19 pandemic in group B TK Dharma Wanita Persatuan Parigi District.
