Performance degradation monitoring based on data fusion method for in-service train pneumatic brake system

Abstract: In order to monitor the brake performance degradation state of the in-service train pneumatic brake system, a data fusion method based on data processing and correlation analysis is proposed in this paper. By using the principal component analysis and analytic hierarchy process to analyze the historical on-board data of one subway line in China, five major indicators of the brake cylinder pressure curve based on seven principal signals are extracted, and the analytic hierarchy model of pneumatic brake system i… Show more

“…As shown in Figure 1(b), the pneumatic input of air brake system is brake supply reservoir pressure, that is, P SR , the electric control input is EP current, that is, I EP , and the output is brake cylinder pressure, that is, P BCP . Moreover, P BCP is an important variable to reflect the performance of air brake system, 9 so the performance prognosis of air brake system can be achieved by predicting the time series of P BCP .…”

“…The fitting toolbox of the MATLAB software was used for regressing and fitting the experimental data obtained from the monitoring system [16]- [19]. After grouping the leakage locations, the regression equation (where x is the leakage orifice diameter, y is leakage duration, and z is SF 6 concentration) between leakage diameter (mm), leakage duration, and the SF 6 concentrations detected at various sensor points could be obtained.…”

“…Electropneumatic brakes are widely used on metro trains and high-speed trains because of its advantages over pneumatic brakes,1,2 and its performance directly affects the operation safety and quality of trains. 3 Generally, to obtain the required braking performance (e.g. pressure response time, braking distance), engineers modify the parameters (e.g.…”
