Performance optimization of tethered balloon technology for public safety and emergency communications

Abstract: This paper investigates scheme of Tethered Balloon network architecture based public safety network and emergency communications. Recently, Tethered Balloon technology represents the most powerful and promising technology to improve the public safety and saving people lives. The capability of network architecture enables Tethered Balloon to accomplish unique and specific missions for temporary events such as natural hazardous and terrorist acts. Natural hazardous and terrorist acts have significant potential t… Show more

“…Footnotes 1 1 The null hypothesis that the correlation matrix is a unit matrix was rejected in favour of the opposite hypothesis (Malarska, 2005). 2 It is recommended that the value of K-M-O > 0,5 which means that the test sample is adequate for the assumptions of the factor analysis (Malarska, 2005).…”

“…Consequently, prolonging battery life is critical for postdisaster communications. At the same time, tethered UAV deployment is one potential solution for the power supply problem in disaster scenarios [9], [10]. Furthermore, problems could occur with its ground base station power source.…”

“…Furthermore, in scenarios where the WSN location is not covered by any HAPS node, tethered balloons (TBs) can be used to connect the WSN (and other ground users and networks) to the HAPS network. TBs were proposed in several works as a means for connecting multiple ground sources (Alsamhi et al, 2020;Alzidaneen et al, 2019). As shown in Figure 1, in the absence of HAPS connectivity, TBs play an essential role in connecting the ground users and networks to the HAPS cloud.…”
