“…Primary lung ACC is relatively rare, accounting for 0.09-0.2% of all primary lung cancers (4,5), most of which arise in the central airways, such as the trachea and main bronchus. Peripheral lung ACC is very rare and represents approximately 10% of primary lung ACC (6). However, a series of primary peripheral lung ACC has not been described.…”

“…The "peripheral" variant of primary pulmonary ACC is quite rare. 1 Primary bronchial ACC requires complete resection, which often is accomplished through lobectomy or pneumonectomy, and the prognosis is usually very favorable. 9 Because of their usual submucosal location, most bronchial ACCs have an intact mucosa; therefore, with rare exceptions, 4,5 exfoliative procedures such as bronchial brushing or washing cytology are not always diagnostic for this neoplasm.…”

“…Peripheral ACC of the lung is uncommon and represents approximately 10% of the pulmonary ACC. 1 Radiographs of the chest are not sensitive enough for diagnosis of endobronchial ACC; however, they are useful in detecting ACC-associated atelectasis and post-obstructive pneumonia. Computed tomography (CT) of the chest and bronchoscopy are more sensitive tools for identifying endobronchial ACCs, and tissue biopsies or fine-needle aspiration (FNA) can be effectively performed under bronchoscopic guidance.…”

“…Primary ACC arises in the central airways, such as the trachea and main bronchus. Meanwhile, peripheral lung ACC is very rare, representing approximately 10% of cases of primary lung ACC [4]. We herein report a case of primary ACC of the peripheral lungs treated with video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS).…”
