Organic farming practices are needed to maintain soil fertility and the health of horticultural products on the banks of the Bengawan Solo river in Jangglengan village, Sukoharjo. This community service aims to teach the farming community about organic farming principles and the practice of making liquid organic fertilizer to support healthy horticultural farming on riverbanks in the Jangglengan area. The partner group, the Jangglengan village government, involves 60 farmer representatives. The methods used were focus group discussion, practices for making liquid organic fertilizer, and evaluation. The results of community service activities show that 75% farmers can show good organic waste material for organic fertilizer, and 95% farmers had improved skills and were able to try making fertilizer by themselves. This organic farming socialization is a good start toward implementing good agricultural practices on the land along the Bengawan Solo River in Jangglengan.

“…Astuti, Sudarsono, Sulaeman, & Syukur (2016) explained that the basic concept of organic farming is a method of crop production by avoiding or as much as possible preventing the use of synthetic chemical compounds (fertilizers, pesticides, and growth regulators). Yuriansyah, Dulbari, Sutrisno, & Maksum (2020) in his research revealed that the basic principles of organic agriculture include (1) keeping the ecosystem healthy, (2) applying the principle of efficiency to the cultivation system, (3) carrying out production activities with the concept of sustainable agriculture, (4) producing a pesticide-free product, and (5) preserving the environment. The importance of providing healthy food has become a great concern in agricultural development. The innovation of zoning-based organic farming development is the prospective solution not only to increase the production capability of healthy food but also to improve the quality of land and the environment, as well as to increase business efficiency, and to improve agricultural product price. The development of zoning-based organic farming is also in line with the national policy in agriculture, namely the corporate-based agricultural zoning approach. Apart from that, the development of organic agriculture must be an upstream-downstream approach so that integrative management system is strongly needed, starting from on-farm processing to marketing of the organic products. The implementation of zoning-based organic farming management will involve many related stakeholders, especially farmers, farmer groups, cooperatives, related local governmental agencies and business partners. This approach certainly requires a clear legal basic support related to the organic agriculture zoning so that the sustainability of organic farming can be appropriately maintained. Therefore, the idea of making District Head Regulation (called <em>Peraturan Bupati</em>) as the legal protection for the management system for organic farming zoning is the right choice. Thus, if the design of this governance model can run well, then the hope that the zoning-based organic farming approach will improve the welfare of farmers may come true

Agriculture is an important sector in maintaining food security in a country, including Indonesia. The practice of agricultural activities is very dependent on the environment. Environmentally friendly agricultural practices, also known as organic farming, are currently widely popular, public awareness of the quality of healthy food is the reason why organic farming practices are increasingly in demand. This agricultural practice is related to the recycling of nutrients through plant and livestock waste, as well as other waste which can improve the fertility status and structure of the soil. Community service activities are located in Dlingo Village, Mojosongo District, Boyolali, involving the Mudho Tani livestock group. The method used is providing material regarding the manufacture of organic fertilizer and vegetable pesticides by utilizing materials found in the environment. Organic fertilizer uses cow dung because the majority of the group members are livestock breeders, while vegetable pesticides use spices (ginger, turmeric, mackerel). The practice of making fertilizers and pesticides is carried out to increase the skills of farmers so that they can apply the principles of organic farming. With this service activity, it is hoped that farmers' skills in making organic fertilizers and pesticides can increase and can be applied to agricultural practices. The implementation of an organic farming system is one of the supports for creating a sustainable agriculture.
