Perubahan Birokrasi Marga Wilayah Musi Ulu Di Afdeeling Palembangsche Bovenlanden 1906-1942

Abstract

Marga is the lowest level government system led by a pesirah as head of the clan that has existed on the Sultanate of Palembang Darussalam which refers to the Simbur Cahaya Law made by Queen Sinuhun Sending in 1630. After the Palembang Darussalam Sultanate fell to the Dutch in 1821, the Dutch East Indies colonial replace with the Palembang Residency. Clan government was continued by the Dutch, thus forming new clans based on colonial interests. This study uses the historical research method of the following steps: heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The results showed that there was the formation of a new clan, the Tiang Pumpung Kepungut clan, combining the Tiang Pumpung clan with the Kepungut Middle Tribe. Then the clans in Musi Ulu were included in the onder district (Muara Beliti, Semangus and Terawas). Then the clans that were in the Semangus onder district were replaced and put into the Muara Kelingi onder district. Finally, the Sindang Kelingi Ilir clan was elevated to the status of the capital of Onder Afdeeling Musi Ulu.
