Photon pair generation using four-wave mixing in a microstructured fibre: theory versus experiment

Abstract: We develop a theoretical analysis of four-wave mixing used to generate photon pairs useful for quantum information processing. The analysis applies to a single mode microstructured fibre pumped by an ultra-short coherent pulse in the normal dispersion region. Given the values of the optical propagation constant inside the fibre, we can estimate the created number of photon pairs per pulse, their central wavelength and their respective bandwidth. We use the experimental results from a picosecond source of corre… Show more

“…While some previous works have analyzed the emitarXiv:1309.2703v1 [quant-ph] 11 Sep 2013 ted flux in the SFWM process [10][11][12], in this paper we aim to present a unified approach leading to explicit conversion efficiency expressions, together with corresponding numerical simulations, valid for the pulsedand monochromatic-pumps regimes, as well as for the degenerate-and non-degenerate-pumps configurations.…”

“…Recently pumping slightly blue shifted into the normal dispersion region has been shown to generate widely separated, phase matched, parametric amplification peaks [23]. It is this discovery that has stimulated our recent exploration of PCF optical nonlinearities at the single photon level [21,24,25,26].Spontaneous parametric downconversion occurs when a pump photon spontaneously splits into two daughter photons via a three-wave mixing process in a χ (2) nonlinear crystal. By carefully designing the collection scheme and pumping strategy various sources of heralded single photons and entangled photon pairs in the cw and pulsed regimes have been realised [27,28].…”

“…Технические науки Анализ результатов расчетов показывает, что наличие повреждения в хвостовой части лопасти на участках (18,19) снижает прочность лопасти в комлевом сечении на 16,7 % на скорости 220 км/ч. В целом запас прочности значительно снижается (более чем на 35%) при наличие повреждений одновременно в лонжероне и хвостовой части.…”
