Physikalisch‐chemische Eigenschaften deuterierter Verbindungen. 4. Mitteilung. Deuterierung von Kohlenwasserstoffen durch heterogen katalysierten Isotopenaustausch im Gegenstrom

Abstract: In dankbarer Erinnerung an Collega Heinrich Labhart (14.XI.77) The Deuteration of Hydrocarbons by Heterogeneous Catalysis in a Counter-current ColumnSummary A counter-current method for the perdeuteration of liquid hydrocarbons by heterogeneously catalysed isotope exchange with deuterium gals is described. The efficiency of the column which was developed for this purpose has been investigated and optimised as a function of the experimental variables. The limits of the applicability of this method are discussed. Show more

“…Phillips research grade cyclopentane and cyclohexane were purified by preparative gas chromatography and subsequently treated with molecular sieve 5A under vacuum. Perdeuterated cyclopentane and cyclohexane were produced in an exchange reactor [14,15]. The isotopic and chemical purities of the deuterated compounds are better than 99 D% and 99.99%, respectively.…”

“…Research-grade methylcyclohexane was obtained from Phillips Petroleum. Perdeuterated methylcyclohexane was produced in a home-made reactor [27]. Both nondeuterated and perdeuterated methylcyclohexane were purified with prep.…”
