Physiological characteristics of grapevine under irrigation and fertilization management1

Abstract: The viticulture in the semiarid region of Brazil stands out in the country due to the expansion of its cultivated area and increased production, especially in the sub-mid São Francisco Valley. However, the supplying of water and an efficient replacement of nutrients to the soil are essential for these crops, due to the intrinsic climatic conditions of this region, such as low rainfall and high evapotranspiration. This study aimed at evaluating the physiological characteristics of ‘Itália’ grapevine (Vitis vini… Show more

“…The Sub−middle SFB has been subjected to the expansion of irrigated agriculture (Figure 6), for example vineyards and mango orchards in the Juazeiro (Bahia State) and Petrolina municipalities (Pernambuco State) [86,87]. However, although a declined annual baseflow and TWS were found over the Sub-middle SFB (Figure 5e), significant trends in both annual and seasonal ET were not detected using GLEAM data.…”

“…The effect of nitrogen fertilization on chlorophyll content and the positive correlation between the relative chlorophyll index and leaf N content in grapevine cultivars was observed by Tecchio et al (2011) and Taskos et al (2015). In addition, effects on the relative index of leaf chlorophyll in table grape cultivars in response to the variation in fertilizer application rate, including sources of N, P2O5, and K2O, have been shown by Andrade et al (2017).…”

“…Nutrients fertilization, mainly nitrogen (N), has great importance in quality and quantity of coriander produce (Diwan et al, 2018;Angeli et al, 2016). N is necessary for protein synthesis and the N leaf status is frequently measured by chlorophyll contents through indirect methods as leaf chlorophyll index (Andrade et al, 2017).…”
