Planning concepts in vocational training programs: The importance of professional experience This article presents the results of a research study carried out in the field of teacher knowledge. The objectives are to explore vocational education teachers and managers' conceptions of planning and to analyze the similarities and differences between them. To this end, a descriptive quantitative research method was used. Planning concepts were analyzed by means of a questionnaire adapted from Marrero (1988) and validated by experts. The results show that there are few differences between the conceptions of the teachers and those of the education managers. It is concluded that goals and students are the point of reference for planning vocational training rather than experience or content and that these four aspects must be incorporated into teacher training as basic elements of reflection and learning in the professional development of teachers. Moreover, it is necessary to combine teaching with professional practice (OECD, 2011; Barrientos and Navío, 2015) in order to fulfill the purpose of this active employment policy.
